Let's see! Don't wanna jump the gun yet as i'm not sure if my fingerprint card got accepted or not!! hopefully i receive it soon now! Good Luck! Will keep u all posted...
I was wondering that myself - would they charge the credit card if the fingerprints weren't good enough to process the clearance? Maybe others here can tell us for sure. Anybody have their credit card charged and then get a request to redo fingerprints that weren't accepted?? I'm really hoping a charge to the CC means that they've processed and finished the request.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but they take your money regardless. This has happened to me in the past. When my prints were rejected in April, they processed my credit card and a week or two later I was told they were rejected. Call them up and ask them. They can tell you if they're accepted or rejected shortly after charging your credit card, but it may take a week or two.

I sent an email to liaison@leo.gov asking the status of my app. and stated in the email that my CC was charged on Aug 18th, i.e., last week. The email was sent at 5 AM eastern time and got a reply in 15 mins, generic auto-generated reply???!!@#$ I've pasted their response below:

Thank you for your inquiry,

If you have used a courier serviceplease use the tracking number and go online and track it to ensuredelivery. Our processing time was updated due to the workload we haveat the present time. The normal processing time for a request isapproximately 12 weeks from the date we receive it. It takes approx 10weeks before we can pull up the status to verify we have received it. We do receive thousands of requests every day, with several thousandof those requesting the information to be expedited which we can notdo.

I will call them in a few hrs. as its still too early there, 6:30 AM ET (4 PM India time).

The irony is I received a phone call this morning from the Immigration Office, Delhi asking for the FBI clearance. I told her I shall be receiving it this week or next as my CC got charged last week! Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping I receive it this week and that the prints were accepted! Good Luck all.

So I called FBI today. Received the same "generic" response from a lady. I asked her if my letter has been mailed out, she replied it's still under process and will take a couple of weeks more. She fed into the system - my name, date of birth and address. I also asked if my prints were accepted or not, told her that my card got charged last week. But got the same response, its in process! Even the email I received earlier today was generic in nature.... *sigh*...

Our FBI clearance came back a few days ago, first try! I was having nightmares and losing sleep over the very real possibility of them being rejected.

Just to give everyone's hope, our clearance came back earlier than expected! Check my signature for the dates.

Best of luck to all of you!

When was your mode of payment charged/cashed? How long before you actually received the certificate in the mail? Thanks...

June 10th was when I posted it, it arrived about a week later. I received the certificate in the mail on August 20th.

Edit: Not sure when it was cashed, sorry!

Thanks anyway! If only I had the FBI letter in hand before immigration requested it..... Waiting impatiently now...

I know the lady you're talking about. Well, not personally, but I called so much over 8 months I pretty much got to know the group! The guys are much nicer, not sure why. Got a couple nice ladies, but for the most part... not especially. Very generic and cold. Weird, eh? It got to the point where if a lady picked up, I hung up the phone!! She would tell me nothing, but the guy would actually be compassionate.

I called today too and felt the same lady picked up. Hung up instantly :) Called the moment it turned 8 there, like yesterday (Timings 8 AM - 5:30 PM). Thinking of calling later during the day as that would be around midnight here in Delhi... I really need to know if my prints were accepted and if the letter has been mailed out since my CC was charged Aug 18th, last Wednesday. Immigration Office, Delhi is waiting for it! Its nerve wrecking....

So a guy picked up and after confirming name, address he said my app. is in process and to call back end of next week as it'll take a couple of weeks more. I told him that my card got charged last week. But he had no info on that and did not even know whether prints got accepted or not? I wonder how come my card got charged one week back and still they do not have any info except for "In Process"??

Got it! Got it! Got it! FBI, I mean!
(Can't wait til the day I can say that about a passport request!)

So, for timeline sake: had my fingerprints done end of May, sent request first week of June. Not sure when they received them (sorry) because I forgot to track them, but my credit card was charged on August 18th and the clearance arrived in the mail - here in Canada - today. So, just about 12 weeks.

CONGRATS ROBSLUV!!! I LOVE that feeling! ;D

Yeah, it's nice when something works out for a change!

They charged my credit card on August 23rd!!! So, hopefully I will get it in the mail soon (been waiting since April!).
