Fortune said:Please help me to estimate how many points I can get for my education.
Secondary school - 10 years
Technical School, Diploma - 1 year
Technical School, Diploma - 3 years.
I studied in Russia.
Thank you in advance.
Fortune said:Thanks a lot, canadestin, for your reply, I hope you will help to make this clear: DO THEY CALCULATE THE POINTS ACCORDING TO THE TOTAL YEARS OF STUDY OR TO THE DIPLOMA YEARS? Because in my case total years study is 14, but the highest diploma is 3 years.
And what about my husband's case: Secondary school - 8 years, then technical institute - diploma, 5 years.
According to David Cohen, I can apply for Skilled Worker Program (I have made a total calculation in his site) but I would like to make sure about the education points.
Thank you very much.
Fortune said:Another thing I would like to ask, if the total score might be less than 67, in the Emigration Guide is written as follows:
"However, you may apply if you believe there are other factors that would help you to become economically established in Canada that were not reflected in your points assessment. Send a detailed letter with your application explaining these factors. Include any documents that support your claim. "
IF I will get slightly less than 67, but I have got big experience in a very famous International Restaurant Chain, many training courses and letters of appreciation from the high managers.
I wonder can I still apply or my chances are so little ?
As I already said, David Cohen said yes, what do you think, Canadestin?
Fortune said:Canadestin, I studied 10 years in Russian Secondary school, and that time it was COMPLETED RUSSIAN SECONDARY SCHOOL - yes ONLY 10 YEARS, not 12, like in other countries.
After that I had Technical School for 1 year, and received diploma of dressmaker, then
another Technical School for 3 years, and received diploma of designer.
However, I apply for Skilled Worker Program under the category "Food and Restaurant Management", as I have spent more than 10 years working at the same position.
And my husband originally not from Russia, he finished only 8 years of Secondary school (from 11 in total) and then studied in Technical College for 5 years, received diploma of Mechanic.
I hope it is clear now.
Thanks.
3 year diploma will not replace 2 year diploma?canadestin said:you get 15 points for education. because u have 1 year and 3year diploma, but for 3 year diploma u need to have 15 years of full time education where as u have only 14years of ful time education.
You dont fit in the second one because ..even though u have 14yrs of full time education u dont have diploma of 2 years.
For ur husband education u get 4 points.

Thank you.

Thank you.
pittabread said:I think you are correct. You should get 20 points. 3 year diploma is superior to 2 year diploma and you already have 14 years of schooling..This is my sole opinion and let others comment as well. But in my opinion you will get 20 points.
Thanks
