Once you are married, your Canadian partner can sponsor you for permanent residency. If you apply for PR using the inland (within Canada) route, you can include an open work permit with the application. The open work permit application will be approved approximately 4 months after the full application package is received.

There may be other options depending on your age and country of nationality - also if you have lived with your Canadian citizen partner for at least one full year continuously.

Age is 21.
Im from united states.
And we have lived together for less than a year.
In that case what I said above is your best option. Assuming you are in a serious long-term relationship, get married as soon as you can. Once you are married, submit the inland sponsorship application as soon as you can along with the open work permit. As said above, you'll get the open work permit approximately four months after you submit all of the paperwork.

Any idea of a place that we could get married at and how much it might be? Cheapest options would be great.

Well I would imagine if you are serious about getting married, a suit or a nice dress (you have not told us your gender), would be good.

How long have you been in a relationship? Have you read all the background information on the need to prove the validity of your relationship? Is your future partner able and willing to promise the government of Canada that he (I assume) will pay for your expenses for three years and pay back any social assistance you may receive?

Make sure your application does not look like you're getting married just to stay in Canada.

Cheap is fine, but I would say wear something nice. Doesn't have to be a wedding dress, but if the both of you turn up in jeans, t-shirts and sneakers, it may look like a marriage of convenience. As above, make sure your partner knows what they are signing up for by sponsoring you also.

You guys are very young. It is also important to show you can support yourselves without government help. If you need to work and can’t afford at least a 4 month without work on top of the costs associated with immigration you can consider Outland application. You can keep working in the US and move to Canada once you get PR and start working right away.
