Hi everyone,

I have a question in regards to how work experience is counted under CEC.

CIC request 52 weeks & 30 hrs per week. How they count the week? Is it Monday to Sunday? or by the day one starts the job (for example Thursday to Thursday)?

I am asking because I started my current job ((full time (NOC 0)) last May 20. I usually work 40Hrs/week never under 30hrs/week, expect one week last December where I was sick and worked only two days in that week. My company doesn't pay for sick leave; therefore, my paystub reflect hours.

1. My company pays bi-monthly not bi-weekly (1st to 15th, and 16th to 30(1) of the month); therefore it is shows total of 64 hrs for pay period. Since I work for a hotel my work week usually start Friday and take off (Wed/Thur).

2. Does CIC requires 52 weeks of work or it allows for 2 weeks vacation (E.I. actual 50 work weeks + 2 weeks vacation = 52 weeks) . Since I have not take a day paid vacation (coupe of non paid days here and there - never in same pay period), I don't have to worry about that week?


3.Do I reach my one year work experience in May 20th or May 14th (when 52 week is completed) to qualify for CEC under express entry

Your help is much appreciated.
 
Your 1 year will be reached on 20 May (in fact 19). Holidays depends on the employer and you - could be 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks if one is salaried.

Which days you work in a week is not an issue provided you have a year's work experience and if you are paid on an hourly basis you need to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
