In the form for permanent residency there is a dependant section. Can I get rid of it as I do not have any children or family members that are dependant on my income? Also my common-law partner (starting sept. 6th) works so he isn't dependant on me either.

Dependents in a PR application are only children - your CL partner is not in that category.
If you don't have dependents, just write N/A (not applicable), and go on to the next question.
