Here’s the case, I’ve left with my family to Canada and landed on the 31st of March 2011, and stayed there for only 5 days, I provided them with a friends’ address for any future correspondents, until today I only received my own PR card, my wife and 2 kids haven’t received theirs yet. I also received a letter from CIC regarding my baby daughter stating that the photos we provided do not match the required specifications and that I need to provide them with new photos, it was also mentioned in the letter that “… should you prefer to instead to send 2 photos to the above address, please ensure the photographs meet the required specifications…” and that was what I did, I took a new set of photos that meet the requirements and sent them by mail (was desperate). I didn’t get any kind of response until now.

Based on your knowledge is it possible to help me with a couple of inquiries that I have about this matter?

1- Suppose that they insisted on being in Canada to present the photos (which I think they will) does my family need to accompany me in other words does my baby daughter need to be with me or could I by myself go to Canada and present the photos?

2- My wife and I have renewed our passports, will that cause a problem for the issuing of the TD for my wife or entering Canada in my case?

3- My last question has to do with the travel document it’s self. What are the chances of getting one, because as I understand that we need to meet some kind of residency obligation which obviously I we don’t? And what if my family was not granted one is it true that they will lose my status as a permanent resident in Canada? How long does is usually take to issue a TV? (Applying from Abu-Dhabi).

Hi

U should not have any problem applying for the travel document. The travel document issuance requires that you meet the residency obligations and you clearly meet them. The residency obligation is that u must have been in canada for 730 days in the last 5 years. Since u became a PR only in march this year you still have over 4.5 years precisely to meet the 730 days requirement. The TD usually takes around 15 days although u should apply 2 weeks prior to the date u wish to travel back to canada.
Go to the CIC website for the PRTD application kit.
Hope this helps

Thanks a lot Sherry for your reply it really helped... but you help with the other inquiry regarding the presence of my family.. could I go alone and present the pictures instead of taking my family with me to Canada?

The letter I received from CIC doesn’t mention anything about being in person to have the photos taken.

I think u should wait for their reply. Since you are a first time applicant for the pr card ur daughter should not have any problem getting it, provided the photos meet the specifications this time. But then again its my opinion only. U should wait for their letter and proceed accordingly.
