friends, I have almost completed filling up my applications but I am still in the process of obtaining a PCC. It will take me like 3 months to get the PCC and I dont want to delay my app as I have all the other supporting docs. Should I attach an explanation letter saying that I am in the process of obtaining a PCC?

Ofcourse. You dont have to delay your application because of Police Certificates. If you read the guide, i guess it says somewhere that you should wait till you get a formal request to submit police certificates and the CIC will tell you to provide certificates from a country (or countries) depending how long you lived in countries other than your own.

So you dont have to wait, apply first, attach an explanation letter that you have already contacted the relevant consulates/police stations etc and will provide it within 3-4 months.

All the best

The problem is that I cant even apply for a PCC till I receive my new WP. But I am going to write a letter saying that I am in the process of obtaining the PCC. Is this ok?

14, Document Checklist (IMM5610E)
Police Certificates and Clearances

You are strongly encouraged to submit your police certificates with your application to the CIO. If you are unable to obtain all the necessary police certificates, you may still send your application to the CIO without them. However, we strongly recommend that you take steps to obtain your police certificates now to avoid future delays. You must be ready to submit them when requested by an officer.

I read the doc chk list. What I want to know is what would happen if I get a letter from CIC asking me to submit the PCC, how much time do they normally give before we can submit the PCC.

Ok, let me make myself a little more clear. After submitting the application without a PCC and it comes up for review by the VISA officer, how much time does CIC provide us to submit the PCC?

I thought you had to submit everything at once. My spouse has completed the medical and poice check and the application has not been mailed to the office yet.

No sweetie, you can submit the Pcc at a later stage as well.
friends, Can someone please answer my question. It is really important.

I don't think you have a time limit to sumbit the pcc, the longer you take the more the process will be delayed rite. I'm no expert just going from what I have read from previous posts and friends experiences. Sweetie I don't think you should do the medical until it is requested, because I think the officer send a form to be completed and you can only do the medical with specified docs.

just a a quick question, which country do you need a pcc?

The police clearance is supposed to be submitted with the application (but it can be provided later). The medical exam - that is NOT supposed to be completed until later, when the application is in process and CIC requests it. Medicals are valid for only 1 year, so chances are good that your husband will have to re-do the medical.

None of us has a crystal ball. :) It could be anywhere from 2 months to 2 years. Once you receive the request from the VO for a PCC, I think you usually have ~ 60 days.

yes, it's true. I haven't submitted the PCC with my application, since I didn't have them, and just got a request from CIC to provide them.
I need two certificates, and I only have one, the other one is in the process and according to the russian embassy can take from 30 days to 3 month.
CIC gives 60 days to provide certificates, so right now i am in a bind due to slow processing of PCCs by russian embassies abroad....
oh well, just start getting them ASAP, and be ready to submit them, once CIC asks!

good luck

Hi sherych, is it 60 days from the day you get your AOR or what is the reference date. Also when you submitted your application package, did you include a letter explaining the reasons why you are not submitting it along with the original app and will send later?

Friends, I am expecting my PCC only in March'13 1st week since I have first get my new WP and then only I can apply for a PCC.
I really dont want to wait till March 1st week to submit the app as I have all the other required docs. Based on the current processing time, people are receiving AOR's in a month from submitting the application. Is it at that time that the visa officer asks for a PCC or would it be a later date. Please share your experiences.

It is really really important to me.
