FACTS: My family unit right now is three (Myself, Husband and Son) and planning to sponsor my parents, that means we need to meet or exceed the Minimum Necessary Income for 5 people. Our year 2015 and this year’s income are okay and will work on year 2017. We will apply on January 2019 for PGP and planning to have a second baby after application. According to the website,“Your Minimum Necessary Income must meet or exceed the Federal Income Table for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship on the date on which the sponsorship application is signed until the day your family members are permanent residents.”

QUESTION: After we submit our application (lets say on Jan2019), was put on processing, got positive feedback and we found out that I’m having a second child. I know that we need to notify CIC about the changes on the family size. How will it affect the application? Will that affect the MINI for those three years? I mean should we prove that our income is at or exceed MINI for 6 people for 2015, 2016 and 2017 even though the baby will be born 2019 or 2020?

Please let me know. I really appreciate all you help :)

No - you won't. You'll only have to include your new baby in the LICO calculation going forward once your baby is born (i.e. if your baby is born in 2019 - you'll need to make sure you meet LICO for six people 2019 forward). Don't notify CIC that you're pregnant. Only notify them once the baby is born.

thank you very much Scylla.

So it means, that the size of the family at the time of application is what really matters.

So in this statement in the website below, what does the highlighted phrase means? My understanding is that there should be no addition in the family until the parents gets PR in order to meet the MINI for the last three years. Oh God, sorry guys, I'm just really so confused with that statement.

“Your Minimum Necessary Income must meet or exceed the Federal Income Table for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship on the date on which the sponsorship application is signed until the day your family members are permanent residents.”

When you submit the app, you need to meet LICO for your current family size of 5. You need to continue to meet the LICO until your parents land. If you have a child, from that year on, you need to meet LICO for 6 people until your parents land. If you have a third child before the app is completed, you would need to meet LICO for 7 people from that year on until they land.

Agreed. Thanks for providing a clearer explanation.
