Situation:
My Fiancee applied in November and she is awaiting her PPR. I applied Dec 27 and awaiting for my Medical Request (Did my upfront medical and ECAS is updated with it).

We are leaving for India on Dec 1 and do not know if we should land before that or just wait and do the landing when we come back in Feb 2015.

Issue:
We can do the landing now, but the current waiting period on the PR card is 96 days and I do not think we both will get our PR cards before Dec 1. Our work permit is valid till 2015 but it is single entry only.

Options:
1) Do the landing as soon as we get the landing documents and hope that we get the PR card before Dec 1?
2) Do the landing as soon as we get the landing documents and if you don't get the PR cards by the time we leave, have someone courier it to us in India?
3) Do the landing when coming back from India in Feb 2015?

Questions:
1) Which options should I go with?
2) If I decide to do the landing now and do not have PR card by Dec, can I travel to India?
3) What all documents would I need for travel?
4) Do I need multiple entry to return back after doing the landing (wihout PR card)?
5) Can I have someone send me the PR cards in a courier to India?

Please advice, thanks in advance. :)

How can you do landing now without the CoPR? You won't travel in 5+ months so you can wait a few months to see how things develop..

When you receive the confirmation of permanent residence, it will give you a deadline for landing. No choice but to land by that deadline. The length of time you get for landing varies by applicant, based on things like when you did your medicals, your PCCs, etc. You may not be able to land at the same time.

Questions:

2) If I decide to do the landing now and do not have PR card by Dec, can I travel to India?
Yes

2a) What all documents would I need for travel?
Before you could return to Canada without the PR card, you would need to apply for a Travel Document for a Permanent Resident Abroad, while in India
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/travel.asp
.

4) Do I need multiple entry to return back after doing the landing (wihout PR card)?
once you are a PR, there is no limit to entry.

5) Can I have someone send me the PR cards in a courier to India?
Yes.

Thanks for the reply jes_ON.. so what do you suggest? Do the landing and then have someone send the PR card to India by courier or do the landing while coming back from India in Feb 2015... Of course if CoRP is valid till then?

I would suggest do your landings while coming back from Canada if COPR is valid till then because it will save your time (say you go to India for 2 months) towards Citizenship. That's What I am going to do.

Situation:

1) Which options should I go with? I would suggest you should do your landing as soon as you can. PR card processing time is 72 days as per current timelines...

2) If I decide to do the landing now and do not have PR card by Dec, can I travel to India? Yes, you can travel. Before you come back you just need to apply for a travel document back from India.

3) What all documents would I need for travel? For coming back you need to apply for travel document.

4) Do I need multiple entry to return back after doing the landing (wihout PR card)? they would issue a one time entry visa (atleast thats what they issued to one of my friend who travelled to India without the PR card)

5) Can I have someone send me the PR cards in a courier to India? Yes, I think so.

Please advice, thanks in advance. :)
