Dear Members
According to the new forms, now i have to select NOCs according to the preferences.
I have 2.5 years experience in NOC 6242 (Cook) and 2 years experience in NOC 0631 (Assistant Restaurant Manager). Please help me and suggest me which NOC should be given preference? What you people think which has less chances of being filled soon by 1000 applicants?

Please reply and also give your logic/reason behind the suggestion. As it will help me to understand as well.

Thanks

Hi...Sorry I don't have a definitive answer, but I wanted to bump you up to the top again with this thought...if you apply with one NOC and it is full, then won't they put you in the second NOC automatically? Does anyone know? Good Luck!

Scanned jobs in the local paper and found several. One looking for Professional Chef in a North Vancouver restaurant. Salary $42K per/yr (that would be $42,000) 40hrs/wk. 3 weeks holiday/yr. Duties: create new menu ideas, prepare and cook food and supervise other kitchen staff.
There is another one looking for a cook at a local, busy Pub. 3 or more years of exp in cooking. $15-$18/hr. 35 hrs/wk
Hope this gives you some ideas....couldn't see any ads looking for restaurant managers. Cheers!

Thank you very much for your reply pippin.
Actually chef duties are little different and are more specialized. However, the cook pay you mentioned does match with what i think cook should be paid. I just want to share my case with you to assist you in helping me selecting the preference. My IELTS score is L=7.5,W=6.5,R=9,S=7 and i have 2 years bachelors degree in commerce but i dont have any qualification in cooking.
I have worked 2.5 years as restaurant cook and 2 years as asst.restaurant manager.
Please suggest me according to my case.

Thanks

I am not an expert in this or any immigration field, but from what you wrote, I would go for the 0631 as first choice as that is aided by the BComm degree and great IELTS as well. I know you don't have to have educational requirements, just work experience of one full year to qualify for FSW1, but probably it all helps. No one has chipped in yet to say whether they automatically put you into your second choice NOC if the first choice is full. Does anyone know???? No matter which one you choose.....the most important thing is to get your docs in as soon as possible!!!
