Hello to all, I'm hoping I will get some help on here. My husband is a Pakistani living in the UK, his passport is with the Home Office because his uk visa case has not been decided yet, we are waiting for a decision. He has an attested photocopy of his passport though, I have all documents ready. I hired an immigration consultant and she is not of much help me all and she confuses me so much, I feel like I should apply mys husbands spouse visa myself. She wants me to do an upfront medical, is that a requirment for pakistanis living in the UK? I called the medical clinic and they said you can do an upfront medical or wait for the reference number and then do it but the immigration consultant says that not doing an upfront medical willl delay the case is this true? Everything else is ready just the medical is missing, I was jut wondering if we do it then it expires in the meanwhile, do we have to do it again? She is also telling me to fill out all the forms myself then what use is it appointing her? Please help, and thank you in advance.

Immigration Consultants are more or less useless. You can do the medical upfront or later, but if you do it later there will be a bit of a delay because CIC will request it and then you have to do it and send it in, all of which takes time. I have heard that that may bump your application back in the queue. Most people here do it upfront. If the medical expires before your husband lands, you will have to get it redone. I've seen some posts about CIC being lenient with expiring medicals, but I'm not completely sure of that.

Yes, waiting to do the medical can cause a delay up to 2 months.

CIC has the flexibility to use an expired medical exam up to the 15 month limit. If it's beyond this, you will definitely need the medical to be redone. If it's in the 12-15 month range, it depends on your specific case officer. The question is if possibly paying an extra $400 is worth 2 months of possible delays.
