Hello ALL,

I've done my medical and CIC received my medical last week and I got a email from CIC requests for RCMP fingerprint form by June 30-2015. However, I did a very stupid thing on Sep 2014 for shoplifting and get charged with theft under $5000 and I went thought the Alternative measure program in which the court will withdrawn my charge on May 30-2015 after the donation of $300 and an apologize letter. However, I saw that if there is a POSTIVE match of my fingerprint it will take at least 120 days to process to get my fingerprint report......but CIC said that they need my report by June 30-2015......but my charge will not withdrawn until May 30-2015 on my count day.......but if I request now....RCMP report will said that my charge is still pending because it won't said "Withdraw" until May 30-2015......should I go ahead to request form RCMP? or wait until May 30-2015 after the count withdraw my charge?

I consulted a lawyer and he said I won't get a criminal record of this charge but in the police report/ record it will stated that I got arrested and solved this by taking the Alternative measure program.

Anyone please give me some advices....what should I do???? I regret what I've done and I learned a lesson.

Will CIC reject my application because of my shoplift charge?

Don't panic mate, stay calm.

Your charge will not flip your application. I know you did a wrong and stupid thing and now you have to pay the price for it. But I doubt it's anything serious.

I will suggest that you wait till May 30th, and then apply for your finger prints. You still have a month till you hit the June 30th mark. If there is a positive match as you put it, and it will take another 120 days, so be it. Get a letter from RCMP that states the same (they have to provide you with such a letter) and send it over to CIC together with a cover letter explaining the whole situation. Try to be polite, honest and considerable in your cover letter. Make sense and write professionally.

Officers at CIC are not hell devils waiting for an excuse to drag you out. They just want to make sure you are not a criminal and a threat to Canada and your community, someone who makes life harder for others! They might extend the deadline date for your RCMP fingerprint!

I will wait on other seniors to have their inputs on this if I were you.

Again, don't panic, it's not the end of the world!
