Please advise--What are alternative docs for Option C printout?

My husband, Canadian citizen by birth is sponsoring me and he does not want to present an Option C printout (mainly because there is a pending earnings disagreement between him and Canada Revenue Agency). He is self employed, never declared bankruptcy and was never on any kind of assistance.

We want to provide alternative documents that fulfill the requirements but we are not clear what those would be... Can anyone help?
Also, we are not clear what are the officers looking for/ what is the purpose of an Options C? (I believe I read that for spousal sponsorship there was no minimal income required...)

Thank you so much for all your help : )

He may not have a choice as the Option C is a requirement, per the checklist. It is NOT the same as a NOA.

His dispute with CRA shouldn't even matter to CIC.

Though there is no minimum income for spousal sponsorship, you guys do need to prove to CIC that you can support yourselves and won't go on welfare.

The Option C shows if your sponsor claimed welfare, which could potentially make him ineligible to sponsor.

If he doesn't include the Option C, there is a good chance that either the application will be returned to you as incomplete or it will be delayed when they request the Option C, possibly by several months. The only situation where CIC allows there to be no Option C is when the sponsor hasn't lived or worked in Canada for many years.

Submit the Option C. CIC doesn't care about an earnings dispute.

I submitted my Notice of Assesment and got approved to sponsor. Keep in mind "Option C" takes 5 to 10 business days to arrive in the mail depending on where you live. If possible, I would include "Option C" along with the application for peace of mind.

Option "C" is preferred, but not mandatory. A combination of other documents will work. NoAs, T4s, etc

Wow...the checklist seems to indicate that it is mandatory, as well as T4s, etc.

Hmmm.

I know. But people have gotten around it.

For some people, it is impossible to have one since they have not filed taxes when living abroad.

But definitely having it will help avoid some delay.

Agreed, but for someone that has one available to them, but doesn't want to submit it...might have a problem.

Yup! Anyway, they can submit whatever else to try and get around it but if the officer requests it, they have no other choice but to submit it.

Hello, quick question.
What stage of process is Option C used?
Stage 1 or 2?

Thanks

It is required for Stage 1, evaluation of the sponsor. Also, CIC has been known to review financial information during Stage 2, so it is probably used then as well.
