Hello All, is there anyone who has an ongoing application for the recently announced pilot program? I have a question on processing time for such applications
The pilot was just launched this month. No one is going to be able to comment on processing times right now.
True. Probably too early but it seems processing time for this pilot wont be long like H&C applications
It's hard to say. Rough guess might be 12 months. But it's going to be a while before we know.
I imagine there will also be quite a lot of people at the start who apply but don't qualify (e.g. those who immigrated through an economic immigration stream).
Yes a lot of clarification is required particularly in the area of economic class Immigrants when direct family members are involved e.g spouse and children
I guess the basic idea behind the pilot program is mostly for family unification and if such members are said to be not qualified then the purpose may as well be defeated..
In my opinion no clarification is required. The rules are pretty clear. I just think people won't read them carefully enough. The pilot only extends to dependents left out of refugee and family class applications. Economic applications are out of scope. So if someone immigrated through EE and left off a dependent child or spouse, they are out of luck.

Agree with scylla that no clarification is needed. IRCC very clearly states who qualifies and economic apps don't. This is likely because such apps are not Excessive Demand Exempt.
Yes IRCC is clear but my point is how do you categorize direct children and spouses as excess demand even if is coming under economic class. In the past people are not well informed the immigration process to Canada and for some reason or the other they may have left out direct family members. I dont think they should be crucified or barred for life simply bcos of simple negligence they may have happened years back.
Besides, family unification is one of Canada's pillars and I think direct family members of any class should be allowed..
You really need to let go of the "economic class" distraction. It's absolutely clear that they are NOT covered by the pilot project.Yes IRCC is clear but my point is how do you categorize direct children and spouses as excess demand even if is coming under economic class. You are entitled to your opinion on the matter but it's of no relevance to this current situation.
