Centralized Concurrent Processing Pilot

I was accepted as a protected person along with my family on April 3rd, 2024. On April 26th, we started the process of applying for our PR, and we included my son, who is still in my country of origin.

On June 24th of the same year, we received emails from Immigration requesting documentation and biometrics for all of us. We were also informed that my son qualified for the pilot program called “Centralized Concurrent Processing Pilot.” Then, on August 7th, 2024, we received another email confirming that my son's documents had been received. That was the last update we got from them.

I have a couple of questions:

1. If I apply for a visitor visa for him, could that affect our other ongoing process?


2. Does anyone know how long this process usually takes?

1. No impact. It may not be approved because he is not a genuine visitor but no harm trying. Depending on what province you live in he may not qualify for healthcare or free public schooling so would do your research and make arrangement if you need to purchase emergency health insurance for example.

2. Tough to say because processing times keep getting longer but appears to be closer to 2 years these days.

Thank you very much for your response. Our intention is not for him to stay here permanently, it would just be so we can reunite for as long as possible.

I’m aware that there’s a high chance the visa could be denied due to concerns that he might remain in Canada illegally, but we would try our best to show that this is not the case.
