Hello,
I came in CANADA December 2005 and I Claimed as Refuge, my application was approved on May 2006, Than I applied for PR Card and I got permanent residency on April 10 2007. After getting the PR card I was absent from Canada almost 300 days. Could you please tell me prom which date they may count my Presence. I was Physically Present in Canada Before getting my PR card almost 2 years.

Thank you so much for your help

To keep your residency you need to have lived in Canada for two of the five years that the residency is valid for.

Hi,

You need to be physicall present in Canada for the 3 years out of the last 4. Swede, I think he's talking about applying for citizenship, not maintaining PR.

It's 3 out of the last 4 years but time spent before you got your PR counts at 50% discount so if you had stayed in Canada for a full 2 years after getting PR, you would have been able to apply right away, that would be 2 years in Canada as a PR and 2 years as not PR but counts as 1 so 3 years total.

Right now, looking back, you have in the last 4 years, that's counting from Oct 30th 2005:

527 days in Canada before PR, counts as 263.5 days towards citizenship requirements
300 days outside Canada doesn't count towards citizenship requirements
634 days in Canada as PR

so total you have almost 900 days in Canada in the last 4 years but you need 1095. Since every day you stay in Canada is wiping out half a day you stayed before you came PR (not in the 4 year window anymore), you should be able to apply for citizenship in Dec. 2010.

Counting from Dec. 1 2006 you have:

130 days in Canada before PR, counts as 65 days towards citizenship requirements
300 days outside Canada doesn't count
1031 days in Canada as a PR

so total 1096 days on Dec. 1st 2010 so on that day you can apply.
