Hello all :D

This is my first ever post to this forum, so please excuse me.

I am a 22 year old Canadian citizen by birth, and my husband is a 24 year old citizen of the Philippines. We were married in September of 2014.

I have a question about the Photo specifications for my husbands application.

I'm about to send out the application for Spousal sponsorship, I received all of his documents on Tuesday of this week, all forms are filled correctly, signed and dated, and he has included all required evidence such as his birth certificate, our marriage certificate and everything else.

The ONLY issue I see is that, yes he has 2 photos (the passport size photos for his visa) but, instead of the photographer stamping and signing the BACK of the photos, he instead stamped and signed the little pouch that the photos are stored in. (I kept the photos in the pouch and put it in the application) My husband's name and birthday are also written on the pouch.

Will this affect the application in any way?

I'd like to know before I mail it out, only because the price of this sponsorship is not exactly cheap, and I wouldn't want to risk losing out on $1,040 because the photos were faulty in some way.

"The back of one (1) photograph must:

bear the name and date of birth of the subject, as well as the name and complete address of the photography studio;
bear the date the photograph was taken;
The photographer may use a stamp or handwrite this information. Stick-on labels are unacceptable."

As you can see, he does not need to sign the photos. I would suggest you to put all the above information on the photo. if you send the pics in the envelope without the above information on thr photo, IRCC may send the application back.

1- Photo specification is not same as visa photos, you need 50x70 mm photo. They are very particular for photo specifications and most of the returns are because of photo. There are other specifications besides size.

2- Even if they return application you don't loose $1040 fee as you can use same receipt in next application

hey there

I was wondering if you could kindly let me know if all went OK with your application? Reason being I'm not sure if we are allowed to handwrite the info on the photos like you did or if the photographer needs to do it.
Another forum said they wouldn't be able to tell if the handwriting is yours or not, however on the back of our wedding photos etc I have handwritten all of those.

please advise!

On your photo sized 50X70mm, the studio could add their seal which is basically they address and contact details. Underneath the seal you can mention your complete name and date of birth. It is difficult for the studio to print this so you could write it with a pen.

For the relationship proof photos, you could write your name and your spouse name along with your DOB and explain what the photo is in brief. Not more than 10 words please. We have applied few days ago and this is what we did. You could clip or band the photos together and put them in a small envelope and keep between the application.

Advice: Please create different small A4 envelopes inside an A3 to separate documents from eachother. One for common documents, one for the sponsor and one for the principal applicant. Follow the order as mentioned on the checklist.

All the best....

Everything was fine with the application. Hand writing info is okay.

Hi all,

Can anybody please advise if the sponsor also needs to submit his passport size photo or is it just for the applicant FOR SPOUSE VISA. I am sponsoring my wife.
