Hi just filling out the family class application to get my wife from ecuador to Canada and am wondering about Photo copies should it only be unless stated otherwise that you do not need to get the copies certified from a notary?

For most things regular photocopies are fine. The ONLY time you need certified/notarized copies are:
- if it specifically requests it in the country specific guide
- if the copy is something that will be accompanied with a translation
