Hi there! my name is Alan,
I currently work on welding in my country (which is inside the free trade with Canada) which is more of a selftaught trade here so I have no diplomas, but the thing is that I'm thinking on directly getting a canadian certificate, instead of doing the certification in my own country, in order to summarize some steps by doing the certification directly on Canada. So I've got a couple of questions guys, hope somebody has the experience to give me some info about it.
1. I was planning on doing the pre-employment diploma (maybe on Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba) that consists on around 34 weeks to 42 weeks course, the question would be if you guys know how much academic weeks is equivalent to 8 months of total study? is there any standard academic hours/days plain data that I can turn into a formula to be sure its at least an 8 months course?
2. If I get, lets say, 3 courses related to one another of at least 8 months, of course respecting the 150-days in between courses limit, does that translate to 24 months (2 years) for PGWPP? i mean, do consecutive courses add up for the PGWPP lenght? of course too knowing that the institutions are certified intitutions for the canadian gov and that are PGWPP appliable.
3. I understand there is some sort of difference between 1 academic year, and 1 year of total education right? I mean adding up, lets say, 3 semesters (each semester being 4 months) for a total of 12 education months, that would represent 1 total education year, yes? which is different to 1 academic year that would in fact only represent an 8 months total education right?
I'll answer questions if it helps you guys narrow down your responses, hope you're having a great day.
