I have a question about open work permit under a new public policy. My PGWP expired in september 2020 and I have applied for visitor visa and it's still pending. I called IRCC and they said I'm eligible for PGWP extension. Here's my question, can I get any authorization to start job immediately once I apply for PGWP extension or do I have to wait until my application gets approved? If I have to wait, are there any ways to begin working because I got job offer and they want me to work immediately.

Do you know the approximated processing time for PGWP extension? I dont think anyone got approved yet.
We haven't seen anyone approved on this forum yet to the best of my knowledge. So don't know the answer to that question yet. We had a whole bunch of people apply right on the 27th so hopefully someone has a decision soon.
I heard that people gets temporary work permit while processing. Will I get it too or am I not applied?
No. We haven't seen that yet. Those who hold valid PGWP are getting permission to continue working until a decision is made in their application.
I hold valid PGWP which Expring on Feb 15th 2021.
Feb 4th 2021 - applied under public policy PGWP --> for Open work permit
Feb7th ---> UCI number added to my profile
Feb 9th ---> received pdf document WP-EXT except PGWP--- In letter it says your are authorized to continue working until June 8th 2021.

No, unless the program is extended upon July. You can only apply within 4 months of the expiry of your PGWP.
Thanks for that but one of my friend who is in the same situation as me got his pgwp extension just last week.
He took a gamble and it somehow paid off.
