Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some advice or hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

I was recently approved for my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). However, the permit is only valid until July 2027, because my biometrics expire in July 2027. I understand that the shorter validity is linked to the biometrics expiry, not my PGWP eligibility itself.

At the same time, I’m planning to apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit (SOWP) for my husband, since his current work permit will expire in March 2026.

My questions are:
• Should I apply to extend my PGWP online as soon as possible and request for Biometric instruction letter via my PGWP extension application? Or I have to get my biometric done before applying for PGWP extension?
• Is it possible or advisable to include my husband in the same application, or should his SOWP be a separate application?
• Has anyone successfully extended their PGWP later only because of biometrics expiry, and if so, what was the process like?

I want to make sure we choose the safest and most correct approach, especially to avoid any gaps in status for my husband.

Any advice, experiences, or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance!
