Hello guys,

I hope someone can shed some information on this query I have.

I shall be graduating in December after which I will be eligible for 1 year PGWP in Manitoba. I shall be visiting my home country and getting married around the same time. Is one able to sponsor their wife on PGWP and is the spouse able to join them right away ? (within reasonable time frame). If not, would the better option be to try to get a visitor visa instead and stay for 6 month stretches ?

Also, if the spouse is able to come join me while im on my PGWP, are they able to work with a OWP ?

I remember reading lots of stories earlier as to how people had to wait over year for their federal residency to get approved before they could bring in spouses.. this wont be my case right ? I believe that applies to federal immigration ?

Help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Is this the wrong sub-forum to ask this ? :D

When you are student and married your spouse is eligible for OWP source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-spouse.asp

But i'm not sure about when you are on PGWP. She could come here as a visitor and get work permit if you can get her a job offer and LMO

Hope this helps!

I just found this! Yes your spouse can apply for OWP when you have PGWP! Source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who.asp

If you are the holder of a Post-Graduation Work Permit, which is a type of open work permit, your spouse will need to attach a copy of your work permit to his or her application for an open work permit. Your spouse will also need to provide information about your employment by attaching supporting documents, including the following:

A letter from your current employer confirming employment or a copy of your employment offer or contract; AND
A copy of one of your pay slips.

Cheers! God bless :)
