Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
hi all,

i have a very interesting question that might not have come across this forum and shall benefit a lot of people.
I am working with a company as a consultant i.e. they sent me to another company and i work for company B as contractor in engineering position for a little less than a year now.
My question is when i got letter from my company (company A) it mentions "XYZ consultant, with so and so pay and duration of job, permanent ,full time etc.) for OHIP purpose ,Can i use the same letter later on for CEC application?
but that does not say or prove that i'm working in a skilled position .How do i prove that ? nowadays most of the people works as third party contractors. Please refer to any posts that you might know.Would really appreciate experts opinions on this.

Thanks

Please read the CEC application checklist, specifically the section that refers to work experience letter requirements. There is a list of things that should be included in the letter. If any letters you have meets those requirements then it's okay to submit. If they don't, then you need to get a new one.

Thanks ,and what are those specific details ?if you dont mind sharing?

I suggest you go to the checklist and read it rather than expect people to find it and post it for you!

I also suggest you read the updated OP 25A following Toby's tool link, where has a detailed explanation re distinguish between self employed and employment. It also lists specifically the consultant and contractor as self employment. We don't know the details of your circumstances, so you may read it carefully against your own situation to ensure you are not classified as self employed, as it is not qualified under CEC.

First, yes, read the information provided by CIC (as pointed out by other members).

In particular, refer to the document checklist for details that must be provided in the Letter of Employment -
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/cec.asp

And the OP 25A -
www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op25-eng.pdf‎

Your particular issue has been discussed many times in this forum. If you are sent out to work for many different clients, then the letter from your employer will have to suffice. But if you are essentially "seconded" to a single client for the entire time that you are claiming as skilled work experience, it will be best if you obtain 2 letters - one from your employer, and one from your client. The problem in that circumstance is that since your employer does not observe your work, they cannot "witness" the duties you perform. The letter from your client cannot give the details of your employment (e.g. salary), but they can describe the job duties you perform, hours worked per week, start and end dates, etc. So you will probably need both.
