Hi all, :)

My wife and I both went to college (2 year program). My work permit ends on Feb 28, 2017. I have 473 points and worry that I will have to extend it. My wife has PGWP till June, 2017 because she took a break.

1. Can I extend my work permit based on her PGWP?
2. Are there any special terms like she has to have a job or some other?
3. When can I apply for an extension?

Thank you!

If you received a 3-year PGWP you cannot extend it.

It is a one-time kind of deal.

Cheers :)

You can certainly extend the work permit but it wont be PGWP anymore, It will be "Open Work Permit - Dependent", Please see CIC's website they have clear instructions on the same.

Hope that helps.

That's right, it woulnt be a PGWP.

If you get an ITA before your permit expires you can look into Bridge Open Work Permit.

Cheers
