PGWP expires while LMIA based work permit application in process, implied status?

As title suggested, if my PWGP expires while my LMIA based closed work permit application is in the process, do I get implied status and able to continue working for the LMIA employer since I assume it is technically a new work permit?

Yes. As long as you applied for the work permit and you’re not referring to the LMIA application.
