PGWP applied but passport will expire soon

My wife has applied her PGWP In March this year after completing 2 years of Masters program but she realize today that her passport validity will be expired in March 2021, so VO can give her PGWP maximum till her current passport validity i. e. March 2021.
Shall I apply her new passport and upload the new passport copy through webform so that she will get full 3 years of PGWP instead of shorter work period rights?

Maybe that will work. If not then she would have to apply on paper for an extension to get the full amount of time on the new passport.
