I currently have a pending domestic assault charge related to a dispute with a partner (Section 266 of the Criminal Code, with no bodily harm and no weapon involved). I am scheduled to complete my master’s program in November 2025 and plan to apply for my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) shortly thereafter.
I would like to ask whether having a pending case may affect the approval of my PGWP application. Additionally, I would like to understand whether such pending charges typically appear in employer background checks.
