Hello Everybody,
I need an advice as to how to best navigate the following situation I am currently facing. I have been nominated by the MPNP and was granted Confirmation of Nomination which is set to expire on June 30, 2021. My PGWP (received on January 2, 2019) and Passport are both set to expire on April 21, 2021. However, I still have unused time for PGWP until January 1, 2022 as it is normally given for 3 years following a study program of more than 2 years. I booked an appointment with my consulate for a new passport for March 5, 2021 as no earlier windows were available at the time. The consulate is saying the processing time for a new passport is ~3 months from the appointment date, so I expect to receive it sometime in June 2021. I am planning to apply for Permanent Residence sometime soon, but still undecided about the best timing. The problem is that I risk being out of status which could spoil my nomination and PR application.

As far I know, I could do the following:

1. Apply for PR now. Apply for PGWP extension some time between March 5 and April 21. Continue with my job under an implied status, and hope that the passport arrives soon enough and update the CIC with my new passport information. There is a risk that passport will not arrive before CIC processes the PGWP extension application and gives me obvious refusal due to passport not being valid. I could add an explanation letter together with the application stating that I have applied for a new passport on March 5 with the proof of it, but not sure if that will help.

2. Apply for PR now. Let the status expire, stop working and apply for restoration of status once I get a new passport. In that case, there's a risk of loss of a job which could spoil the nomination and compromise my PR application.

3. Do the same as #1 or #2 except apply for PR after getting a new passport and a PGWP extension / restoration (if successful). Before applying for PR, ask the MPNP to extend the nomination explaining the situation.

I would like to know what else can be done to fix it. Please advise and Thank you!
