Just to stir up some conversation, when applying for parents sponsorship is there a fortuitous benefit or drawback based on your province of residence?
  1. Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) : Considering the same size of family unit, number of people to be sponsored, and their dependents/non-dependents, etc., does QC require higher MNI in comparison to ON? (I have done the calculation for QC but I am not 100% if I'm computing correctly so wanted to confirm from audience. I think MNI is higher for QC - for ex: 2 parents to be sponsored with 1-2 dependents)
  2. Processing speed or delays : Because of extra layer of verification, do QC residents get short end of stick (bad deal) and the processing time is much higher than ON or other provinces or is it faster, slower, equal?
  3. In long term, is there any benefits or consequences to applying from QC? For ex: do one has to stay in QC until parents arrive or long term after they arrive?
  4. Any other difference between QC versus other provinces when applying for Parents sponsorship based on your province of residency?
  5. Has COVID made any difference to the process, MNI, etc. at QC level?

Thanks in advance for your replies. If there are any previous forums with same discussion, please feel free to point me to those as well. I have done my research but checking if there are other interpretations out there.

Before I answer there is never any guarantee the QC won't change their program so if moving to to Quebec you must realize this.

1. Same income level it is set federally
2.Longer processing because CSQ is required
3. Odf course you must stay in Quebec until your parents land. Currently they can apply for welfare, if they qualify, after 10yrs where as it is 20 yrs elsewhere.
4. They look at more than your tax return to determine your financial status.
5. We have no details about PGP2021.
