Hi all, it looks like my mother in law may have a form of non-aggressive skin cancer on her face. We've seen one doctor and have been referred to another one. Treatment is typically excision of the 'tumour' and they do not often recur or spread.

Can anyone with experience tell me how or if this will impact our sponsorship application? I'm mainly concerned about the medical exams that will come later in our sponsorship journey.

This might cause her to be rejected because of the excessive medical demand. However, the way to get around that is simply to have the condition treated at home before the immigration medical is done. If she is cured, and the doctor agrees that what she has is highly unlikely to recur, she should be able to pass the medical. CIC may send her for more tests, though.

She's already here in Canada on the PGP SuperVisa. We would be treating it here either out of pocket or through insurance. We've paid privately for one doctor and will be paying again to see a specialist soon.
