I am interested to sponsor my parents to Canada. I am aware the system from First-Come First Served has changed to a Lottery Program. Does anyone know if I need to complete the entire application package or just submit the online form?

Thank you,

Just submit for lottery first. Only if you win a spot from the lottery, then you can submit the entire application forms.

Hi,

I am also looking into applying to sponsor my mother in 2017 however under the previous sponsorship program, the sponsor had to show 3 years of T4s with total income greater than the minimum income. So under the old program, to apply in 2017, you had to show the T4s for 2013,2014, and 2015.

I only have T4s meeting the income requirement from 2014 onwards. If I happen to get selected under the new system, I would have 90 days to submit my application and I would already have my T4 for 2016 as well - making it 3 years of tax forms in total.

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether I should fill out the online form given only my 2014 onwards tax forms qualify for the sponsorship? Or should I wait till Jan 9th for the new forms to come out and then fill out the online form?

I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas.

Thank you!

Looking for suggestion, do I wait till 9th Jan to see complete application package or submit the web form on 3rd Jan.

The reason why I'm asking this is I have no income in 2012. I started work only in 2013 onwards. In the previous process, I was including Co-signer income for 2012. the current Fin evaluation form is old / not revised and contains income details for the year 2014, 2013 and 2012.

Not sure if the new Fin evaluation form will include incomes for 2015, 2014, 2013 - then I'm good. However little confused if I do not provide the Co signer information in the web form and later if the fin form is not updated. Totally confused.

Not sure is it worth waiting till 9th Jan ....

There is no rush to submit a lottery entry. Can be submitted any time this month before lottery process closes.

For 2017 PGP apps, you will be required to submit incomes for 2013, 2014 and 2015. 2012 is no longer relevant.

Hello,

I'm hoping you could answer my questions..

1.I got my PR last year June, my husband sponsored me. Now, am I allowed to sponsor my parents or should I wait till 5 years. I heard someone telling me that If somebody sponsored me, I have to wait 5 years to sponsor others. Is this true?

2. I got married in Aug 2015. I had no income in 2013 but 2014, 2015 and 2016(and now) I have enough income alone to invite my Mother and Father (4 family including my husband). My husband had enough income to cover 2013 instead but we weren't married at that point. If he is my co-signer, would I still use his income in 2013 even though we weren't married at that time? I had no income in 2013.

Thank you so much and best wishes for 2017 everyone!

1. Not true, a sponsored spouse, can't sponsor a spouse for 5 years from "landing"
2. You can use his income from 2013.
