PFL- failing to declare previous TRV refusal

Hello everyone I am new here and seek help regarding my PFL i received. when filling the form for my spouse sponsorship I didn’t respond to the question asking about previous refusals properly I said no instead of yes and honestly its because i didn’t pay proper attention to the whole question as TRV was like the past part.
So IRCC sent a letter asking me to provide the following

• An explanation for failing to declare a previous TRV refusal and submitting a completed
  IMM0008 form.

How do i write my explanation letter and what should I include has anyone been in the same boat? If so what did u do to get out of it?

Get a lawyer to help with response because you don't want to get 5 year ban. Need to be truthful and explain why.

I consulted a few n they all say they have to do a letter saying its an oversight but am wondering if they can do more n with what they charging i feel like someone can do it n get it reviewed instead

Then right a response saying you were wrong but it was a mistake and explain why.

My question is how do explain that mistake? I mean is just saying it was an oversight enough or u need to explain why it happened like I didn’t read the whole question or?

There's no particularly good answer. Just tell the truth and keep it simple, whether it's just oversight or I read quickly or whatever.

Hello, I consulted some lawyers they said it can be explained as an oversight and I personally wrote the letter provided new forms and refusal letters but as of now haven’t got any feedback from them but the tracker shows docs were received and application is in process. So am still waiting to see if eligibility status get updated to completed as it is still in progress
