Anyone know a site that says what shots and documents you need to take your cat/dog across the border? or has anyone done this that could tell me what you need done. thank you!

Not sure about a site, but I'm sure if you did a quick google search you'd come up with something. My cat has been across the border numerous times and we've never had trouble. Cats are supposed to be vaccinated against rabies, but I take a certificate signed by my vet saying everything she's vaccinated against, which includes rabies. I haven't brought my dog yet because my parents were willing to keep her for the time I spent in Canada, but as far as I know, just proof of vaccinations again.

Yeah, I took my dog across the border and all you need is the rabies vaccination record. Though I've brought my pet across the border a few times and they never once asked for it. It's still good to bring it because you know the one time they will want to see it will be the one time you neglect to bring it.

Hope this helps

On a side note ...when i returned to Canada as a returning resident, I brought my cats across and they had to have their rabies shot and I had to produce the documentation from the vet showing that with detailed information about each cat so the certificates could match up to each cat ..

Thanks for the help. :) I thought they required a lot more than just the rabies vaccine.

this thread was helpful! im planning to bring my cat! :P

Hi, I know this topic has been talked about before but perhaps some more people can add comments? Has anybody taken cats on a long haul flight to Canada? I'm very keen to find out how they cope. I plan to take mine on Air Canada from Australia.

*bump* - also very interested in hearing if anyone has taken a pet on a long-haul flight (in cabin!)... we're considering taking a cat in a carry-on carrier

And on the subject of Cats to Canada - does the Cat&Carrier get included on your CUSTOMS declaration? ( I would imagine it would need to...).

i´ll bring two dogs, i already did the vacines. hope they´ll be fine 10 hrs in the plane. hope the landing procedure goes fast and i can pick them up fast.

bye everyone
