Hi,
I've searched and searched for a thread for Petroleum Engineers (NOC 2145) that immigrated to Canada via EE but it seems like we're really few.
Are there PE's on this forum? Is there an active whatsapp group?
Can you share the steps you went through to get licensed (if you are) or if you had to tow a different career path.
Please let's communicate. The lack of information on things PE related in Canada is driving me crazy.

Finding a job as a Petroleum engineer is complicated in Canada.
I had a masters in Petroleum from university of Alberta and end up doing operator jobs in fracturing, cool tubing and wireline which are more Labour sort of jobs.
U need to have Canadian 2-3 year specialized experience to get a job as a Petroleum engineer

Hi Jaffaral,
What about field engineer jobs? were you able to get that sort of job?
Do jobs as a field hand count towards the 2-3 years specialized experience to eventually get a Petroleum Engineer job?

No it’s extremely difficult. Oil Industry of Alberta is one of the most difficult place to land a job especially if u don’t have Canadian experience. Field engineer jobs too are very difficult to get. U need little
bit of a luck

Since both of my dreams are to Live in Canada and practice Petroleum Engineering, I'm sure there'll be a way to combine both passions. I'm an optimist.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I wish more people will share theirs.
