Hi! I am new here. Just want to ask if you are a PR at canada, is it possible to petition a friend (boyfriend) in the philippines? Or is it best to get married first and petition a spouse instead? How long would it take? Or could there be any best and fastest way to get Him in Canada? Thank you all for your help. :)

You can only sponsor your spouse or common-law partner (meaning that you have lived together for a minimum of 12 consecutive months).

I'm not sure of the times through Manila, but I think it's about a year.

Yes you are best to get married, the process timelines are the same for spouse, common-law or conjugal.. however if you are planning on getting married in the future you should just wait. if you do not qualify for common-law then marriage is really your only other option unless you can prove that there are reasons preventing you from marriage. See better explanations of the classes on this page but specifically it says this "you are engaged to be married (in this case, you should either apply as a spouse once the marriage has taken place or apply as a common-law partner if you have lived together continuously for at least 12 months)."
