I have been living together with my BF, Canadian, since September 2014. We are going to hit common law in september 2015 but I am applying for the permit extension now. My question is, should I say in point 9 of form 5710 that I am in a common law relationship but give the date it started sept 2015? the question is about current marital status and I want to include him, but there is no option that would fit me, apart from 'unknown' which is weird, and 'divorced' which is true, but is not precise, since I;ve been in a new relationship for some time now. Could anyone help me with this?

You are not common-law; putting that down would be misrepresentation. You must put your marital status as divorced. Not sure why you want to include him in the app, as there is no need.

Ok, great, thanks! this makes things easier.

I wanted to include him, because we will be applying for family sponsorship PR for me next April/May and I was afraid that it would look somehow weird for them that I didn't mention m,y BF earlier, but this explains all, so thanks! :)
