Hello,

My wife is currently a permanent resident and we've recently discovered that her PR card is already expired (expiry Sept 2013). We have already sent the renewal forms over a month ago as an urgent request including flight ticket and payment information but unfortunately it's still in processing and she is flying in 3 days.
We've been told that she will have to apply for a travel document at the Canadian embassy in Warsaw but she will be located few hours from there and it won't be an easy task.
However, since Polish bio-metric passport (e-passport) holders do not require a visa to visit or transit to Canada, can she still fly back without a valid PR card and travel document based only on the Polish e-passport?
Just to add, I am a Canadian citizen and we had a civil marriage in Canada and just recently had a baby who will be flying with her. Will bringing along the marriage certificate help in this case?

In summery, is the travel document still required in this case?

Regards,

Sebastian

it says there you must apply for a travel document

If your wifes passport is visa exempt, and she doesn't have a problem boarding the plane, then she will be fine. She will just tell CBSA that she is a PR and that she has applied for a new card. She can show them the receipt, and she'll be fine. The ONLY obstacle you would have to overcome is ensuring she is allowed to board the plane in Poland without her PR card.
