Permanent Resident of Canada

Hi everyone not sure where to post this. Hopefully someone can help. My husband is a permanent resident of Canada. We are looking at visiting the U.S. for several reasons, to visit his family, shopping possibly flying out of the U.S. Not sure where to start. People have told me he needs a B1 or B2 visa...any assistance is appreciated.
