Hi, my fiance (canadian citizen) and i (new zealander) are about to submit our (inland) application for my permanent residence. We have been living here in B.C. together for over two years with much proof to show so (shared bank a/c, PO box, leases, photos with family, statutory declaration, letters from friends and family).
We are submitting an application for an open work permit at the same time but i am concerned my status in Canada will lapse while we wait for a response. My current visitor record expires on April 22 (5 weeks away) and has notes attached by the border guard specifying i must apply for PR by Apr 22. I wonder if applying for the open work permit will give me "implied status" or should i also apply for another visitor record? this would be VR number 6.
Also i have seen many people mention submitting emails as proof of the validity of a relationship, is this advised/likely to help? Feels strange to bare one's personal communiqués if not necessary, but if they will ask for them later anyway it could save time to know.
We are considering getting a lawyer to look over our application before mailing it, though confident we have done a good job. I don't know about paying someone to basically proof-read something we've gone over a dozen times.
Hoping for some of the stirling advice i have seen flowing here, thanks.

I believe you have implied status right away, but others more familiar with inland process will need to confirm.

We also applied common-law, and for reference we didn't include ANY emails, chat logs, phone records etc etc. This is more to prove communication in a long distance relationship. If you living together in the same home with your partner for over 1 year, there is really not much you need to prove in how you communicate when you see each other in person everyday!

If you do include any emails, it's totally up to you what info they show. You are free to cut out anything you deem too personal. They could just be random "how are you doing" emails from various points in the relationship.

Thanks, it does make sense that proof of communication would be more of an issue for those not always living together. I have done a little research on-site and conclude that if the OWP and PR are submitted together i should, as you suspected, have implied status.
