I did a soft landing and went back my home country to work for a while, like 16 months. I have checked the official website and discussions here and I think I still meet the permanent residency requirement and hence should be no problem. Am I right?

what does it mean, proof of residency requirements if you were outside of Canada for 1095 days or more in the past 5 years.
