Hi! Good day to all of you! I have some questions regarding how this permanent residence works in my current situation. My family and I are migrating to canada and we are scheduled to "land" in the country on or before july 27. I belong to the official choir of our state university and we'll be having a long tour from april to october because we'll be joining competitions in europe. I won't be joining them from april to july since my family and my scheduled landing is on july 27. I just want to ask if i can fly to europe from canada on the 36th day of my stay there since my PR card, assuming the processing time stated in this site, is already with me. I plan to return to canada in october. Won't this affect the residency of my family since we applied for immigration as a family? I'm sorry if ever these questions were already answered in the previous topics. Thanks in advance! :)

There is no problem with your plan. Even if you do not have the PR card yet, you can still leave. If you are visa exempt, you can enter Canada again on the strength of your passport and landing documents. If you are not visa exempt, your family can either send your PR card to an address outside Canada where you can collect it, say in your old country or you can go to a Canadian embassy once your tour is over and apply for a PR travel document there.

Your only obligation as a PR is staying in Canada for 2 years out of any 5. If you are the principal applicant, you must land before or at the same time as your family. That is it. After landing, each PR is responsible for meeting their own residency requirements. One leaving, coming back etc. will not affect the others.

Hi sir Leon! It's me again.. how do I know if I am a visa exempt or not? Also, are there any requirements needed for a minor traveling alone? Like travel clearance or something from Canada? I am 17 and is planning to follow my choir-on-tour, that is probably by that time, already in Europe. thanks! :)

If you are from one of these countries: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp#exemptions you are visa exempt to travel to Canada.

I do not know of any restrictions on a 17 year old travelling alone.
