Permanent Residency for both Partners

Hi there,

My Australian boyfriend was granted permanent residency in June and we are now both living in Canada. We previously lived in Australia for a few years, and would like to have the option of going back there at some point. I am still being considered for a permanent visa back in Australia, and was asked by the Australian immigration to provide a statement saying that we intend to move back to Australia. I am just wondering if this would somehow affect my boyfriend's permanent residency status in Canada? I wouldn't think so since it's already been granted but I just wanted to check. I'm sure other people have been in this situation before- having both partners getting permanent residency in both countries so they can go back and forth?

Any experience you could share would be great!

Easy. OP is a Canadian citizen. This means her boyfriend can keep his PR status while living outside of Canada as long as he is living with her.

It would have no effect on your partner's Canadian PR.
