Good morning my Good people I just got this letter regarding the application I submitted, and I have a question about the police certificate.
Question #(1) do I have to submitted police record from the USA since I lived there for 7 years and how can I get one?
Question #(2) I have my wife and two kids which are included in this application and they live in USA currently, do they need to get a police report? I will go and get the police report in Canada but I don't know how I can get from the state since am no longer living there. Have anyone been asked to provide this information by immigration please let me know what I have to do. Thanks

Hi Whiskey2020, you'll need to submit a request for a fingerprint background check to the FBI. Unfortunately, there are few ways to expedite the process and it takes 8-10 weeks for them to process your request, let alone get the request to you. So, what are you to do?

Well, you could use a virtual mailbox service like Earth Class Mail or Anytime Mailbox to get your fingerprint background check back, scanned, and forwarded via a courier service.

It's not really that hard. Unless you have the ability to travel to the United States and get your fingerprints submitted to an FBI-approved channeller, just follow the instructions on the FBI's website. Also, the 8-10 week clock on the finger print background check starts from the day they receive it. Not the day that you send it. So, when sending your fingerprint card, consider Xpresspost, UPS, DHL, Purolator, or FedEx. Canada Post can be a bit slow delivering regular lettermail to/from the USA.

I imagine she would require fingerprints as well. Better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them.
