Hi,

I have a pending asylum application in the US, my company needs relocate me to Canada for an assignment.

I think, ideally I need to apply for a canadian work permit, but how does my pending application affect this?

I am worried that Canada will reject my application because of the pending asylum case in US.

Thanks.

You are rightfully worried. With a pending asylum application, your chances of any sort of temporary visas are low to nil. No harm in trying though.

Is your company aware of your status. They should be aware that if you are waiting for asylum you won’t be able to travel. Perhaps a good time to remind them of your situation.

Don't waste your time with an application.

If I decide to take my chances, and end up getting rejected, will that affect me if I apply for immigration to Canada?

Thanks for your reply.

It won’t affect any permanent residency applications so long as you say yes to the question asking if you have been rejected/denied previously.

No impact. Just make sure you declare the refusal in any application to Canada.

Agreed that a refusal is unfortunately pretty much guaranteed.
