Dear All,

I am seeking your help as I am stuck in bit peculiar stage

I applied for Canada PR as a single applicant ( bachelor ) and my file is about to complete as I already submitted my PP for visa stamping

As still I am bachelor , but my parents are being searching my soul mate at high pace and as per the scenario I am expecting to get married by next 2 3 months

My question is , would I be able to add my "would be spouse" before landing in Canada and after receiving COPR ?

If Yes, how much time it will take to add spouse ? and which documents apart from marriage certificate CIC may ask ?

Scenerios :-

1) If you landed and then got married; you can sponsor your spouse once start residing in Canada. Usually Processing time is long.

2) If you got your PP with Landed visa stamped & COPR and still un married :- You cant inform visa office about your change of marital status unless it does.

3) If you have received PP and COPR and then got married ;- Don't do landing , inform visa office immediately about change of your marital status and submit additional forms with marriage certificates, pics and fee etc. You will have to return your COPR and passport (in this scenario). Visa office will process your application to add your spouse. Processing time varies but of course it may take further 5-6 months/more or less. There is no specific timeline (depends on your documents, visa office & other factors)

I would recommend doing s short landing, collect ur PR card, then return to get married. Getting married between Dm and landing can complicate the things alot. sponsoring ur wife is safest route as per me. just ensure u dont get married before completing ur landing in Canada. but thats just my opinion. Anyways u r not sure yet when u will get married.
