hi folks,
a question for a friend

he stayed in US after becoming PR for 2 years almost from September-2014 upto JUNE-2016 . And came back to Canada in JUNE-2016

now if he apply for citizenship in June-2021 (after 5 years)……...means from June-2016 to June-2021 eligibility period

Does he still need to get FBI clearance certificate from U.S? or he is exempted as the time he was in US (for 2 years almost) is before his 5 years eligibility period now?

He would be exempted even now, the PCC requirements only apply for the last 4 years:

You need to provide a police certificate from each country, other than Canada, if you were there

• in the past 4 years
• for 183 days or more in a row
• since the age of 18

Indicate in the chart the name of each country and provide a police certificate.
