Hi All, I am anticipating to get picked up in next draw and hopefully receive an ITA.
So, before hand I am trying to get Police clearance certificate in bangalore, India .
Could someone please clear the below queries

1) What is the difference between PCC & PVC - which one is better?

2) Where to get it? in a Passport Seva Kendra(PSK) or Commissionerate. can i get it in local police station as well?

3) Could some one who already got it from bangalore post the process to get it. i saw it in other post but they are quite old.

SB: What you need for the immigration process is specifically the PCC, which you can get from the PSK. The primary difference that I've observed between the PVC and the PCC is the wording, which is what the VO pays attention too. Many folks here have had the misfortune of getting their applications refused/cancelled because the Police Verification they did from the local police station only accounted for a small period and not for the duration that the CIC expects. The PCC, on the other hand, essentially is a letter from the Ministry of External Affairs, informing the reader of the Certificate that they have not found any trace of criminal activity of the certificate holder.

SB: Get it from the Passport Seva Kendra.

SB: Use this link - http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-im...rance-certificate-for-bangalore-india.263308/ - to understand the process. Another link of interest is this - http://www.onemint.com/2015/07/05/h...clearance-certificate-for-a-passport-or-visa/ - I did the same myself and can confirm that it functions exactly the same way, even now.

In fact, the only thing I would add to this is that the 'Appointment time' is completely arbitrary - my Appointment was actually for 10:30 AM. But because I was paranoid about a huge rush at the PSK, I showed up much earlier (about 8:30 AM or so), was allowed in and finished the entire process before my appointment time itself!

Also, and this is
vitally important - make sure to carry a letter with you, addressed to whomsoever is concerned, about the reason why you need the PCC. They don't mention this anywhere on the PSK website, but they do ask for this.

Thank you so much Siddharthbala for detailed information and links. However i have a small query.

I stay in Bangalore currently from past 8 months but my address in passport is Hyderabad.
Can i keep both present and permanent address as Bangalore only in online form of passportindia.gov?
I am planning to show address proof from my employer. would that suffice both as permanent and present? (i do not want any verification to be done at Hyderabad address as there is no one residing currently)

Thanks in advance

If that's the situation, then I strongly recommend you do the PCC at the PSK in Hyderabad. Please note that nobody is going to come to the address and do any sort of in-person verification; the PCC is generated on the spot at the PSK itself. So I would suggest you book an appointment for a Saturday, fly in the previous night, go for the appointment and fly out either the same day/Sunday night.

I currently work in Mumbai, but my passport's permanent address is in Bangalore, and honestly this was the best way around the bureaucratic red tape around getting this done at the Mumbai PSK vs the Bangalore PSK.

@siddharthbala if there is no in-person verification that happens can i just have this done in bangalore?

isn't PCC issued for the entire country and where you get it doesn't matter?

i am planning to update both the addresses present and permanent but trying to get PCC from present only. would that create any problem?
