PCC and passport isue - query

Went to nyc consulagte to get PCC. they (NY consulate) wanted to do mine on same day but they found that my passport (issued 8.5 years back) has police verification report as 'candidate was out of station during verification' (I was overseas at that time but my family members were there) Sad, and meanwhile in these 8.5 years my address that is on passport has changed (the address in passport no longer valid). Thats why they said they have to just check with my passport issuing authority that the passport was indeed issues by them or not, once they confirm I will get PCC, that's what the consulate told me (they told me not to worry). I hope it is resolved soon, else - either i) I will go to the police station in person asking hem to clear the 'candidate out of station' remark from my file or ii) I will ask NY consulate to reissue my passport with present address and then will request them for PCC with new passport.

Any comments or advice in inputs from anybody on my situation? thanks

(ii) is the only option that is going practically going to work. But you would need a valid reason to get new passport and the will renew it only if your expiry is within one year.

And they won't clear that remark unless they complete the verification. I renewed my 2008 issued passport in India last year with existing address, and police verification is exempt if the address is same. But still they issued me a police verification for some reason... probably they didn't find one on file.

If you cannot renew it for not being eligible to do so, they may probably issue a verification request to the address in the passport. You will need to wait until that's done.

Thanks but I did not quite get it, addresses may change, more so in 8.5 years !! My brother (with whose family I lived with in 2009 when I was in delhi) has moved to UAE years back and i moved to US 5 years back, so what is the logic of police verification int hat address? they wont find nobody there !! I have written my currrent permannet address in india as well as my current US residential address (both of which are different than the address on passport) in the verification form, so why would they go to an address that is no longer my address? Do you mean that I cannot get PCC unless I present myself to the police station where I used to live 9 years back (the address which is on passport)? I am confused, plz clarify. Also, no my current passport expires in February 2019.
