Posting on behalf of my brother.

My wife and I completed our soft landing formalities in June 2019. We spent one month in Canada, staying at my brother's place and returned to a South Asian country. During our stay we got our PR cards, opened bank accounts and got credit cards. I have two questions if someone can answer.

1- We intend to move permanently to Canada in June 2021 (2 years after soft landing). I hope it doesn't imapact our PR status.
2- As we spent one month in Canada and did not work anywhere during this period, do we need to file Canadian Income Tax return for 2019?
Thanks

Would not have gotten credit cards or bank accounts but especially credit cards. Would avoid using the cards and creating ties to Canada.

Those generally aren’t sufficient ties to deem you a resident for tax purposes by CRA.
Easy to eliminate any chances. Assume they want to use the credit card regularly to build up credit. Regular transactions creates ties. Why risk it? Would recommend not to do any banking but if you have to set up a savings account where you can transfer money before you leave.
