Congratulations to the friends who have received their passports.
Make sure you get all the landing documents ready. If you are landing with your spouse, make sure both of you are aligned with each other on what to present or say. Don't get nervous or over confident that might make you forget things. Document on your planning as well.
Friends with their spouse, if you are landing from different places at the same airport, wait for each other before going to immigration officer. Don't bring loose food packages. Sealed foods might go through. Every sharp object you bring should be in your luggage and not in hand carries.
There are things you should do after landing, this might give you guys a clearer picture.
Things to get done as soon as you arrive:
1. Get your SIN done, go to Services Canada with your documents (it is walk-in thing so you don't need to take an appointment). Once you get your SIN(Social Insurance Number), then you can apply for jobs. Update your resume to Canada's style. A good cover letter is always a good idea.
2. It is always good to start living from a place near or with your family or friend.
3. Find a job, get a bank account after that. Or whatever suits you.
4. Get your IDs ready, license and insurance for driving, medical insurance.
5. Get to know the place really good. There are always hidden doors of opportunities behind the scene. Socialize!
6. Visit Employment agencies for jobs, better place to start with is government assistance places like Employment connection in BC, Alberta works in Alberta etc.
